Along the Ad Routes

The Wisconsin Badgers had an up-and-down week overall. The volleyball
team lost its second and third consecutive matches while the hockey team
split in Friday and Saturday matches, winning on Saturday. The football
team, however, won a thriller at Nebraska - their first real test of the Big 10
season. The game was tied 17-17, but the Badgers won going away at 38-
17. Who is the Nebraska coach? Why it's Mike Riley (note it's not spelled
Reilly, so no relation)!
We hope the volleyball team can get back on track - they are a lot of fun to
watch!

We're in the final stages of the fall sports season with tournaments starting
the 17th for volleyball and soccer and the 20th for football and cross country.
This week sees conference cross country meets, while the other three sports
are playing their final regular season games. Good luck to all the teams -
some of the area ones won't be in post-season football action, but had exciting
seasons! Everyone starts post-season action in soccer, volleyball and
cross country.

Above is a sample of the action you can see on the soccer field.

I guess it's not too early to start thinking about Christmas as the Dodgeville
Area Chamber of Commerce had its first committee meeting about events
for this year. Events will start on "Small Business Saturday" with a FREE
movie like other years, followed by events we will tell about down the road!

Lee Speth of Full Boar, Dodgeville, has taken on a second location to help
with automotive repair. He is still on Highway 18 as you head out of
Dodgeville going west - just past Dodger Bowl - but he's also at the former
Morton Buildings location on Leffler Street - across from the armory building.
Lee has been a good promoter of Dodgeville over the years and having
two locations now furthers his commitment to Dodgeville - thanks Lee!

The weather has been pretty mild lately and there has been a lot of road
construction (repair) in the area - both on the highway and in the city. A few
times, in Dodgeville, there has been youngsters darting out from the construction
areas when I've been driving around, either on bikes or other twowheeled
vehicles.

It won't be long now and the Ice Wolves Youth Hockey League will be
starting at Harris Park. I'm sure the colder weather is on its way, but it can
wait awhile yet!
