Dodger girls comeback stops Vikings


Trailing 21-18 at halftime, the Dodgeville girls basketball team put together a strong second half for a 64-46 non-conference win over visiting Mount Horeb Monday night.
The Dodgers applied a tough full court press in that second half and created a host of turnovers. They put on a 10-0 run at one poit where the Vikes had trouble getting the ball across half court and that 44-34 lead ballooned to over 20.
Hannah Jones and Olivia Argall both scored 19 points to lead the offense. Jones had 15 in the second half while Argall hit 13 in that period.
Grace Borne nailed a trio of three pointers in the second half and finished with 11 points.
Jo Jo Heimerl chipped in with 10 markers.
"We played with more defensive intensity in the second half - we werent as aggressive in the first half," said Dodger coach Josh Busch. "We rotated better to the passing lanes."
"We were able to get more take aways from them than the amount of lay ups they got in transition," he added. "I had told the girls teams would get some easy lay ups when we press."
He also said, "Grace hit some big 3s and I think that helped give us more confidence offensively. It was a good win. This should send come confidence our way."
Mount Horeb sophomore Kenzie Couthard led her team in scoring with 12 points. Senior Lindsey LaBorde added 11 and junior Sarah Toay hit 10.
