Along the Ad Routes

We always appreciate feedback from our readers, especially the out-of-state
ones who subscribe to keep in touch with the "home" stomping grounds! This
note came from Missouri City, Texas, from Phillip A. Kramer.
"Enclosed is a check for another year's subscription. Enjoy getting the
Chronicle weekly, catching up on the Dodgeville, Iowa County and Iowa-
Grant area news. I have been gone from the area since 1966, living in Minnesota,
Missouri and Texas. Have always subscribe to the Chronicle!!! Take
care and have a safe and happy holiday season!

This weekend, there is a lot going on in the area for holiday events.
Dodgeville will start the day with "Breakfast with Santa" at the Plymouth
Congregational Church (next to the police station) and "Santa's Secret Shop"
at the QLF Research Center (former Thym's) on Highway 23 North. There
will be a tree lighting ceremony at the Iowa County Courthouse Veterans Memorial
and the lighting of the "Pocket Park" nearby at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Before that, though, at 1:00 p.m., there will be carriage rides given for a tour
of Dodgeville until 4:00 p.m., plus a "Live Nativity" at the Congregational
Church from 1:00-6:00 p.m. There will be hot chocolate at the church and
kid's activities from 2:00-4:00 p.m. plus hot chocolate at Cobblestone Coffee
House on the main street. Members of the high school girls' choir will be
singing carols. The Dodgeville United Methodist Church will have inexpensive
lunch items and baked goods available too.
Mineral Point hosts Candlelight Shopping from 5:00-9:00 p.m. on Saturday
when the street will be lined with candles and the Kiwanis will have
chestnuts roasting. Santa will be at Shake Rag Alley for photos from 10 a.m.
-2 p.m. Santa's Workshop will be open there at that same time and the Annual
Holiday Gift Fare will be at Trinity Lutheran Church from 9:00 a.m.-3:00
p.m.
Highland has "Holidays in Highland" on Saturday with Breakfast With
Santa and kids' activities at the Red Zone from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. A Holiday
Craft and Vendor Sale will be at the elementary school gymnasium from
9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. with a luncheon from 10:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. There will
be wagon rides/caroling from 2:30-4:30 p.m. and a tree lighting ceremony at
5:00 p.m.
Barneveld's 11th Annual Spectacular Spectacular Community Christmas
Concert will be held on Saturday starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Barneveld
Lutheran Church. Proceeds will go to support the Community Connections
Free Clinic in Dodgeville. Musicians include Paul Kittleson, Mike Mitchell,
Emily Wicker, Linda Seely, Dale Kitchell, Michael Massey, Kelly Jo Mitchell
and Grace Neilles.
Spring Green hosts a Holiday Light Parade at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December
1 with a tree lighting ceremony at the Post House Garden following
along with a holiday reading of "The Grinch." The Driftless Depot has a German
style market from 5:00-8:00 p.m. The next day starts with Breakfast
With Santa from 8:00-11:00 a.m. at the fire station and a tour of homes from
9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 1:30-4:30 p.m. There are events going on throughout
the community the rest of the day until fireworks end the celebration at
6:00 p.m. over North Park.

We held Photos With Santa and Mrs. Clause last Saturday at Cobblestone
Coffee House and had a great turnout. The next one (and final one) will be
Sunday, December 10 from 1:00-2:30 p.m. at Cobblestone.

It was great weather for Thanksgiving and I had a chance to run into quite
a few people back for that holiday weekend - several were college students
that I hadn't seen for awhile!
