Nothing like experience.
Iowa-Grant's young girls basketball team got their first lesson in that Friday when an experienced Lancaster squad rolled to a 55-34 win in a non-conference opener for both teams.
The Flying Arrows got double figure scoring from a trio of players from the SWC squad and dropped in nine three pointers along the way.
Lydia Murphy, a junior guard, took game honors with 16 points and had a pair of threes.
Sophomore guard Brooklyn Connelly scored three of her four baskets from downtown and added 12 points.
Junior guard Devin Wagner completed the trifecta with 10 points.
"Lancaster had a great game shooting from the outside," first year Panther head coach Dan Liddicoat said. "They moved the ball around well and have some players who can really shoot it beyond the arc."
It was a tough first test for the young Panthers.
"Our team is young as we start three sophomores so this season will be a time to grow as players and as a team," Liddicoat added. "Everyone has an important role as was evident Friday night."
Sophomore Oliva Liddicoat, a returning starter for last year's SWAL Panthers, led Iowa-Grant with 17 points. She also had 13 rebounds. three assists and three steals.
Trinity Spurley had an active performance with six points, three rebounds and two steals.
"It will be important for our team to control the amount of turnovers moving forward as well as pick up our speed and intensity during the game," Liddicoat said.
