Speaking of "Small Business Saturday," our Thanksgiving issue of the
Dodgeville Chronicle (11-23-17) will carry a special supplement featuring a
lot of advertising from our area small businesses. Don't forget them when it
comes to your Christmas shopping! In that piece also is a listing of as many
holiday events around the area as we could find - check them out!

The Wisconsin Badgers football team is a perfect 10-0 on the season thus
far - first time in school history. It was pretty unbelievable Saturday when
their defense held Iowa to 66 total yards in 50 plays. That's an average of
1.33 yards per play! In beating Iowa 38-14, the defense didn't give up a
touchdown as the Hawkeye defense scored both times. This is the lowest
yardage game a UW team has given up sine 1946 - the year I was born! Oh,
and they finally have a winning record as a football team. It took quite awhile
for that to happen due to some pretty bad play back in my college and just
after days - until Barry Alvarez took over!

I broke in Cassidy Downs at Cobblestone Coffee House in downtown
Dodgeville Sunday as far as her making her first "Mint to be in the Chronicle."
It was her first day working there and I was her first customer for her
making that drink. I didn't give her too hard of a time about her dad - Alan
Downs, who is a Dodgeville graduate. They live in Blue Mounds and Cassidy
is attending UW-Platteville.

I attended the Iowa County Home and Community Education (HCE) Holiday
Fest Saturday. There were lots of holiday gift items available at the silent
auction table. Check out some of the crowd that attended in the above photo.

The Packers finally got it pretty much together for new quarterback Brett
Hundley. The defense played well as did the offense and Hundley threw some
pretty good passes. That spelled for a win over the nemesis Chicago Bears
Sunday. It never hurst my feelings when they beat those Bears - dating back
to the Ray Nitschke (Packers)/Dick Butkus (Bears) days - both were middle
linebackers!
