Memorial weekend has to be one of the busiest weekend of the year. I went
to Iowa-Grant's and Dodgeville's graduations on Saturday and Sunday,
Cobb's and Dodgeville's Memorial Day commemorations on Monday and
was at the 15-inning Dodgeville Knights Home Talent game with Verona on
Monday. There were also several graduation parties to attend over the weekend
and there was some work to do at the Chronicle too. See the above photo
as Iowa-Grant graduate Travis Arndt plays the tuba at the Cobb Memorial
Day event as part of the I-G band. He's joined the Army and leaves for
Afghanistan in July.

It's great to see two boys relay teams and individual Sydney Staver (two
events) plus a girls relay team heading to state track this Friday and Saturday
at La Crosse. Iowa-Grant's softball team won their Division 4 Regional
Championship and played Wisconsin Heights Tuesday in the sectional semifinal.
Barneveld, Highland and Mineral Point played in the regional semifinals
Tuesday. These local/area teams make the area proud - doing well in the
playoffs. Good luck to all of them!!

This Saturday, from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. you can enjoy seeing a dairy farm
operation and take part in the Iowa County Dairy Breakfast at the home of
Mike and Sherry Brokish just outside of Dodgeville. They will serve great
food and you can see their operation. There are activities for the youngsters
too - all at Go-For-Broke Dairy Farm.

My only problem with the Brokish family is that they don't raise pigs too!
I grew up on pork, but ate beef too - plus chicken and other things!
*****
Just something to remember - the Hyde Blacksmith Shop Open House will
be Saturday, June 10.
*****
The annual "Hops for Hope" event will be held Saturday at Harris Park in
Dodgeville. That's a great time to socialize with a lot of people who attend.
There will be events going on plus a lot of foods and beverages on hand. Proceeds
go to benefit both the Dodger Food Locker and Pointer Pantry.
*****
I have already experienced the other part of the "summer" season - the season
of construction - in several of my recent travels!
