JR Linscheid was 2x2, scored two runs and had a double and pitched his highland baseball team to a 6-1 win at Argyle Friday.
The Cardinals scored a run in the first, fifth and seventh and three in the third.
JR Linscheid worked five innings in getting the win. He struck out 12, walked three and alowed one hit.
His brother, Spencer, relieved him and went two frames. He gave up two hits and a run while striking out three and walking one.
Spencer Linscheid stole two bases as did JR. Conner Rusch, Alex Michek, Ryan Minter and Drew Hennessey each had one theft.
Spencer Linscheid was 1x2. Paden Kosharek, Mitchell Welsh and Drew Hennessey each were 1x4 wile Alex Michek was 1x3.
Argyle ball players Gavin Johnson, Cameron Treuthardt, and Flannery each had base hits for the Orioles.
In game two of the doubleheader,
Argyle finally took a lead that would stick - in the top of the ninth.
That's when freshman Miken Godfrey singled off of Highland pitcher Paden Kosharek, driving in teammate Cam Treuthardt - (who had singled earlier and who had also stole second), placing himself (Treuthardt) in scoring position prior to Godfrey's ensuing clutch hit.
Earlier, Argyle had scored two runs in the top of the fifth - with Highland answering in the bottom of the same frame. Oriole freshman Gavin Johnson doubled off of Mitchell Welsh, driving in two runs in the go-ahead top of the fifth. When Highland answered - it was Welsh who singled off of Miken Godfrey, driving in two runs for manager Terry Cool's Cardinals.
Godfrey earned the win for Orioles, working five innings in a relief role, surrendering one run on four hits, and fanning one. Welsh suffered the loss for Highland, hurling five innings, surrendering three runs, four hits, and he fanned eight.
Cameron Treuthardt started the game for Argyle Orioles varsity and the senior righthander was highly effective on the hill, tossing four innings, allowing two runs, one hit, and he struck out four.
Freshman Gavin Johnson had a single, a double and three RBI's - and teammates Jakob Ploessl and Godfrey also plated runs for Argyle.
Tuesday, Shullsburg/Benton tipped the Cardinals 2-1 in Six Rivers play.
