It was a busy weekend around the area starting with the Relay for Life Friday
night at Harris Park. Then came the Babies Gone Too Soon event at Harris
Park on Saturday. Iowa-Grant held its prom Saturday night then
Dodgeville had a "Love Dodgeville" event on Sunday - where there were a
bunch of "feel good" projects going throughout the city. Then there were
high school baseball games going on Friday evening, softball and golf tournaments
on Saturday and Home Talent baseball on Sunday. I guess the summer
events are starting!

Former Dodge-Point cross country and track runner Alli Tank (now Klein)
and her husband Patrick ran their first Boston Marathon together April 17th.
Patrick was the first Wisconsin male runner to cross the finish line while Alli
was the 4th Wisconsin female to cross. He was 111th overall while she was
324th among the females and 3196th overall. She also bested her personal
record by two minutes. Alli is the daughter of Chuck and Becky Tank of
Dodgeville. She teaches kindergarten at B.A. Kennedy in Prairie du Chien
while he is about to graduate from nursing school.

This Friday night inside Ley Pavilion at Harris Park in Dodgeville you can
support the Dodgeville Fire Department by attending their annual dance.
"Cherry Pie" will be performing and there will be plenty of beverages and
food plus other activities while you are there!

There already have been some plant sales going on in the area, but
Dodgeville's big one will be May 20 when the Uplands Garden Club's annual
plant sale takes place at Harris Park. That's when the area's Master Gardeners
show off their product. At that same time the Iowa County Humane Society
holds a plant sale at their location on County YZ.

It's also time for the Mineral Point and Dodgeville farm markets to be open
featuring fresh, locally grown products!

A lot of the colleges, vocational schools and universities have already held
graduation ceremonies. With high schools having their graduations start in
another week, running into June, the grads and other youngsters will be filling
jobs around the area. That benefits both the area and the kids!

As part of the Love Dodgeville project, people worked the community garden
near Culver's on Sunday. In the above photo, Richard and Mary James
along with Sharon Anderson did just that inside the fence line.
