last week for St. Patrick's Day last Friday. In fact, many places served Thursday,
some Thursday and Friday, others Thursday, Friday and Saturday and
one even included Sunday. That says a lot of the Irish (and others) around
the area!

How about the Barneveld boys basketball team! They pretty much cruised
their way through Division 5 at the state tournament playing games on Friday
and Saturday. They won game one by 20 points and game two by 30 to total
50 - that's pretty darn good. Congratulations to the players and Coaches Jim
Myers (head), Tyler Sullivan, Trent Sullivan and Dan Doescher. This is the
first Gold Ball for Barneveld in boys basketball. A BIG, BIG, BIG that away
to go to them!

The Barneveld Dance Team put on two great performances during halftime
of both games at the Kohl Center. They have performed every year for quite
some time at the Resch Center for the girls teams that have gone to state too!

At Saturday's state championship, our Assistant Editor Brooke Bechen
went with us. This was her first time at the state tournament. She was really
impressed with how things were run and with the Media Room, where you
could go and relax and have a soda or cup of coffee. She was there when the
coaches and players were interviewed after the championship game. She also
realized that was the same room where University of Wisconsin Men's Head
Basketball Coach Greg Gard sits and is interviewed following home games!

We stayed for the Division 4 state title game too that featured Darlington
of the SWAL - just down the road from us. It's too bad they had to meet up
with a team from the Milwaukee area that had a group of guys many college
teams would've liked to have. Darlington was really undersized, but fought
to the point they were trailing by only two points late in the game. Then, the
Milwaukee team took over and won by a pretty healthy margin. It was great
to see the Darlington team put forth such an effort to make it a really entertaining
game!

The UW Badgers Men's basketball team probably broke all the remaining
"non busted" brackets for the NCAA Tournament with their win over #1
(that's #1 overall) Villanova Saturday. Congratulations to Cobb's own Coach
Greg Gard. They are now in the "Sweet 16" and hope to reach the Elite 8 -
then the Final 4 - then the NCAA championship game - then become NCAA
Champions!

Congratulations to the contingent that took over Collins & Hying Plumbing
& Heating in Dodgeville Friday. It's really great to keep that business up and
running right here in Dodgeville!
