Mineral Point boys survive Heights test

"Survive and advance...a good win," were the comments from Mineral Point boys basketball coach Dan Burreson following his team's regional semifinal win over Wisconsin Heights Friday night.
The two teams battled to a 29-29 tie at the end of the first half.
The Pointers made 13 of 18 free throws in the second half and outscored the Vanguards 36-31 for the win.
Pointer Chance Wendhausen hit 14 points in the first half and finished with a game-high26.
Isaac Lindsey added 18 with 11 coming in the second half, including going 7/10 from the line.
Three Wisconsin Heights players scored in double figures with Tyler Parman leading the way with 15. He had 13 of those in period two.
William Seston and Grady Geishirt both hit 14. Geishirt had 13 in the first half.
"It was a tough battle and we knew that it would be," Burreson pointed out. "They have three pretty good players and they had a number of other guys step it up as well. It was a tough battle and I was really proud of how our guys responded."
He said Lance Steffes had a big night on the boards will 13 with Chance Wendhausen pulling down nine.
Burreson pointed to "a couple of big baskets by Wes Berget on back to back possessions when we trailed in the second half. He also had five rebounds."
"Mason Dailey knocked down a big three for us as well," he said. "Also Jake Gorgen led us with 4 assists."
"Offensively, Chance did a nice job taking the ball to the basket," Burreson said. "Isaac Lindsey added 18 in spite of being face guarded the entire night."
He also mentioned that Jack Warrick had 6 rebounds and 4 blocked shots.
