Knights can't close it against Fever

Four errors in the last two innings, one an extra frame, turned a gem into a nightmare for the Dodgeville Knights Friday when Shullsburg/Benton came back for a 4-2 win.
Only one of the runs by the Fever were earned and that came in the fourth. Trevor Kattre singled to open the frame, stole second, advanced on a ground out and scored on another ground out.
The Knights got their first run in the second when Levi Nagel singled, stole second, took third on a ground out and scored on a sac fly by Chris Clerkin.
They added a run in the third as Austin Larson, who singled, later came home on a single by Danny Sullivan.
After the Fever tied it the Knights stranded two baserunners in the bottom of the ninth.
With one out in the 10th an errant throw on a drop third strike put Tommy Behrens on second and he scored what was the winning run on a wild throw to first that ended up at the fence. Kattre then doubled for an insurance run.
Kattre was 2x5 for the Fever.
Jordan Larson was 2x5 and Danny Sullivan 3x5 for the Knights. Trent Jones, Austin Larson, Jordan Olson, Nagel, Brad Simmons and Cole Sullivan each had one hit.
The game was a pichers' duel for the most part between Knights veteran Danny Sullivan and UW-Platteville ace Colton Bormann. Both went nine innings with the Knights touching Bormann for 10 hits, two runs, one earned with no walks and a strikeout. Nathan Hendrickson pitched the 10th and gave up a hit while fanning one.
Sullivan was dominating, fanning 13 and spacing two hits.
Austin Larson gave up two unearned runs and took the loss. He gave up one hit and fanned two.
The loss gives the hard luck Knights a 3-6 record. Their Night League game with Black Earth last Thursday was postponed and will be made up,
The Knights host Sauk Prairie Twins tonight for a Night League game and have a busy holiday schedule with Muscoda here Sunday then  a July 4 game at Wiota Tuesday.
