Along the Ad Routes

It's hard to believe that Betty Hayes Baxter started her school of dance the
year I was born - that was 70 years ago. I'm not sure when she actually began
dancing off the top of my head, but if I looked back in her Spotlight story I
could probably find the answer. She's a phenomenal person, who loves what
she does and loves to teach dance!

Brother Pat and I went to the Saturday afternoon performance of the 70th
dance recital. It was quite the performance (see above photo). I think it gets
better each year. Two of Pat's granddaughters - Danielle Roh and Emma Berg
- performed. They danced together and Emma did a solo dance. Danielle was
in other numbers too. Betty always has to do a little dance with her instructors
as they are taking a "curtain call!" The Richland Center High School Auditorium
is a great place to hold that event. If only Dodgeville could have such
a facility!

I failed to say that both Danielle and Emma did a great job with their routines.
In fact you could say they "nailed" them!

There are a lot of little community events going on all the time during the
summer. I hope everyone is taking advantage of them and supporting your
area. There are Farmer's Markets held in Dodgeville and Mineral Point every
Saturday.

It's not too long and the July 4th events will be taking place in many areas
close by. Mineral Point and Ridgeway both hold a lot of events. Remember
that particular holiday falls on a Tuesday this year, so that means out ADVISOR
deadline will be the Friday before the 4th and it will be delivered
pretty much anytime in the next three days. Our Chronicle, Democrat and
Leader deadline will be Monday noon instead of Tuesday. The papers will
be printed Monday night, but not mailed out until the regular Wednesday
times.

We received this little note with a Chronicle subscription recently from
Scott and Sherill Pecor of DeKalb, Illinois. They said: "Please renew our
subscription for another year. The Chronicle never disappoints. We enjoy it
so much. Keep up the good work!"

Iowa County Farmers Appreciation Day is right around the corner as it will
be held Sunday, July 8 in Dodgeville.

There are hints of two new businesses locating in Dodgeville. Hopefully
we will have more on that later!
