band at the Cobb Memorial Day service. I said he was Travis Arndt and going
into the Army. Well, it wasn't Travis and Travis isn't going into the Army. In
looking on his name tag in another photo (after the fact), his last name was
Amend - don't know the first name - but he's going into the Army and onto
Afghanistan.

Saturday was the Iowa County Dairy Breakfast at the Mike and Sherry
Brokish farm, just outside of Dodgeville. There were a lot of people there
when three of the Amigos and Lynn Price were there together between 7:15
and 8:45 a.m. I heard they figured somewhere around 2700 attended - they
served some 2200! Lynn Price, Dodgeville Chamber of Commerce Executive
Director, couldn't get enough Culver's custard as can be seen in the above
photo. She even went to lick "Scoopy" as we were leaving. With her are Terry
Carroll and Bob Kratochwill. I ate mine in the car as we were driving out!

Oh, the scrambled eggs, sausage, yogurt, applesauce, cheese, cake, string
cheese and coffee/milk were pretty tasty too! There was probably more stuff
to eat, but I didn't eat again until supper that night - so full! It takes some
150 volunteers to put on that Dairy Breakfast - good job!

Pat and I went to Matthew Myers' graduation party Saturday afternoon. He
was probably Barneveld's top basketball player this year and they won the
state tournament. His father - Jimmy - was coach too! Anyway, I'd swear
that 90% of Southwestern Wisconsin was at that gathering! Matthew was
greeting people and probably didn't have any time to eat!

This next Sunday is the Dodgeville Lions Club's first of two annual Antique
& Flea Market shows at Harris Park. Stop out between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30
p.m. and see what is being offered. As of now it's very close to being sold
out for vendors. There is a great food stand (I'm prejudice) and Lioness pies
available too!

There seems to be a ball game going on at one of Dodgeville's parks every
night. It's great to give the youngsters something to do during the summer!

Dodgeville-Mineral Point's track & field boys 4x800 relay team of Gerrit
Bakker, Peyton Tranel, Henry Keith and Isaac Grunow made the podium at
state track in Division 2, taking 5th place. The D-P girls 4x200 team of Jaynie
Gorgen, Syd Staver, Madison Stumpf and Jalissa Weier finished 6th and just
missed the podium for medals. Also Josie Penninson, or Pecatonica/Argyle,
just missed the podium with her 6th place finish in the Division 3 400 meters.
Great job by all these young people, plus all who competed. Southwestern
Wisconsin had a very large contingent at La Crosse!
