Strong 2nd half boosts Pointers

Senior Jack Warrick and freshman Isaac Lindsey both scored 20 points to lead the Mineral Point boys basketball team to a 81-60 win over Southwestern in SWAL action Friday night.
The Wildcats stayed with the Pointers in the first half of play as the two teams were deadlocked at 36. That was mainly due to the 14 point effort by 6'2" junior Dylan Rieken.
The Pointers held him to only three points in stanza two as they held a 45-24 advantage, having nine players score.
Warrick hit 10 pints in each half while lindsey had 12 then eight.
Pointer junior Chance Wend-hausen had six points each half for 12 while senior Lance Steffes hit eight points in the second half and finished in double digits at 11.
Besides Rieken's 17 on the night, senior Austin Stangl had 10, but only two in period two.
Pointer coach Dan Burreson said, "Defensively we were much better in the second half. In the first half we put ourselves in too many help situations. The second half we were much more active tonight."
He added, "Jack Warrick had his best game of the year with 20 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks. Lance Steffes shot the ball well tonight. Isaac Lindsey had a good night offensively and had 5 steals on the defensive end. it was also a solid night by Chance Wendhausen."
"We also got some big minutes off if the bench by Wes Berget, Mason Dailey and Brant James," the coach said.
"This was a good win tonight over a Southwestern team that is playing with a lot of confidence."
