Hannah Jones had a game-high 27 points Friday night against River Valley, but it was points numbers 25, 26, 27 that were key.
The Dodgeville junior, with three lady Blackhawks chasing her, nailed a three pointer as time expired for a 48-45 SWC win.
The shot had all fans and coaches warching in wonder. Not that she made it, but that it hit the rim, seemed to go down then come back out, rollaround the rim and then go down and through the net.
Jones hit 16 of her points in the first half, including two of her four three pointers on the night That spurred the Dodgers to a 28-25 lead at the intermission.
At the same time, River Valley seior Taylor Briehl was scoring 15 of her team-high 21.
The Lady Blackhawks shifted to a 2-3 zone in the second half and took the lead at times. The lead went back and forth with Jones' bomp the deciding factor.
Ellie Argall was the other Dodger to hit in double figures as she hit two three pointers and finished with 10.
River Valley sophomore Riley Feiner hit 11.
"These are the games that are fun to play, but they're even better when you come out on top," said Dodgeville coach Josh Busch. "We didn't really ahoot the ball very well. but we made plays when we had to. We're improving I felt the girls adjustes on defense in the second half and played more physical."
River Valley coach Brent Johnson said, "The kids played okay. We did a good job playing the ball, but we did lack some on Jones. Some of the other kids hit shots for them too. We had some goodlooks shooting, but the ball just didn't go in."
He added, "We went to a 23 zone in the second half and got th lead. We just came out on the wrong end of an entertaining game."
