Dodgeville jumped to a 7-0 lead and never really looked back in a 54-29 SWC boys basketball win over River Valley Friday night.
With the help of a trio of three pointers by senior guard Isaac Nagel and eight points in the paint by junior post Bryce Prochaska, the Dodgers held a 27-10 halftime lead.
Nine players scored for the Dodgers with Prochaska's 12 leading the way.
Nagel set up the offense all night long and added 11 with both Nate James and Houston Stanek hitting eight.
River Valley didn't have anyone hit in double figures. Senior guard Derek Wedige led them with nine. No other player had more than four.
"I felt we brought some defensive intensity in the first half," Dodgeville coach Matt McGraw said. "They had very few goodlooks. The key to us improving is that we have to stop people. Our focus is on the possesison we're on. That is the key to us playing well."
"We had nine guys score and I like that," he added. "We controlled whay they had to do defensively."
River Valley coach Luke Thatcher said, "I thought they (Dodgeville) outplayed us in every phase of the game tonight. They were the aggressor in the first half. We didn't handle our defensive responsibilities very well. This is not the way we have been playing."
"You have to tip your hat to coach McGraw for having his team ready to play," the coach added.
"I felt we took a step back tonight in reaching some of the goals we have set," Thatcher concluded saying.
