D-P tops P/B/L, takes 2nd at Southwestern


Dodgeville-Mineral Point's gymnastics team slipped past SWC tri-op power Platteville/Belmont/Lan-caster 128.725-125.375 last week in a key conference dual.
Freshman Miah Lemanski won All Around with 34.375 to P/B/L's Grace Hammermeister's 33.8.
D-P's Alyssa Belling was third with 32.3, Tessa Bockhop fourth with 31.3 and Elle Honerbaum 7th with 29.725.
Lemanski won vault with a 9.125 with Belling fourth at 8.3, Honerbaum fifth with 8.0, Kaitlyn Yingst seventh with 7.7 and Bockhop ninth at 7.35.
Bockhop won bars with 8.05 ahead of Lemanski's 7.9, Belling's 7.75 and Honerbaum's 7.5 - for a four-place sweep. Yingst was 10th at 6.0.
Lemanski took second on beam with 8.825 with P/B/L's Hammermeister winning at 8.85. Belling was fourth with 7.85, Bockhop fifth with 7.65, Lily McDonald sixth with 7.2 and honerbaum ninth with 6.525.
Lemanski was second on floor with 8.525 with Belling third at 8.4, Bockhop fifth with 8.25, Honerbaum eighth at 7.7 and McDonald ninth with 6.875.
In JV competition, P/B/L won with 86.9 points to Dodge-Point's 78.9.
Ana Capri Peterson won vault with 7.5. Jorah Jacobson was third at 6.6 and McDonald was fourth at 6.5.
Yingst won floor at 7.4 while Jacobson took fourth at 6.3, Ava Mettlach sixth with 6.2 and Camilla Marchesini eighth at 5.7. Peterson was second on beam with 5.9 with Jacobson fourth at 5.7, Mettlach and Marchesini tid for sixth with 5.2.
McDonald took second on bars with 5.6 with Jacobson fourth at 5.1.
Jacobson was the lone All Around competitor, taking third with 23.7.
"Coming off a big meet over the weekend always makes Monday meets difficult but the girls did well.," said Dodge-Point coach Julia Oellerich. "We had a shaky beam night and lower scores on floor than we like to see but still were able to pull out the win."
"Miah Lemanski continues to prove herself on vault. She took first place, set a personal record and a school record with a 9.125. She also had a great score on beam, with an 8.825.
"Even though our J.V. team didn't win, many did well individually. Ana Peterson took second on beam with a 5.9. She also took first on vault with a 7.5, followed by Jorah Jacobson who tied for second with a 6.6. Jorah stuck her rolls on beam, which helped her take third in the J.V. all around competition. Lily McDonald placed second on bars with her personal best of 5.6. Katlyn Yingst did well, returning to floor after many weeks off, due to an injury. She took first place on with a 7.4.
"We are looking forward to the River Valley invite this Saturday and hope to see many of our fans there cheering us on," the coach concluded.
Saturday, at the Southwestern Invitational, Mount Horeb emerged the White Division winner with 138.7, followed by Dodge-point's 133.5.
Bockhop won bars with 8.8 with Lemanski fourth at 8.3.
Lemanski was third on vault with 8.7 and fourth on beam with 9.05. She was third in All Around with 34.6.
""We are so happy with how the team performed, both J.V. and Varsity. Everything finally clicked. The girls have been battling injuries but we seem to be on the road to recovery, so it was nice to see everything come together," Oellerich said.
"Beam and bars tend to be two of the more difficult events for our team but the girls have been working so hard to incorporate new skills and clean up their routines. That really showed in their performance and scores.
"Tessa Bockhop had an awesome routine on bars, receiving one of her highest scores with an 8.8, which also got her a first place medal.
"Miah Lemanski stuck her back tuck in her no fall routine which scored a 9.05 on beam, which got her a fourth place medal."
"Alyssa Belling stuck her back handspring in her beam routine, which was a huge accomplishment for her. She also tied her own personal record on floor with an 8.6."
"Elle Honerbaum had an awesome meet. She scored her personal best on beam, scoring an 8.45 with a no fall routine. She also had a personal best on bars, increasing her score almost a full point."
"Ana Peterson brought home a fourth place medal in the J.V. competition on beam, with a score of 6.6. Ana placed third on J.V. vault as well, with an 8.1, which is one of her highest scores this season."
"Jorah Jacobson, Lily McDonald and Katlyn Yingst made their podium debut at the invite. Jorah took fourth place in the J.V all around competition. Lily took fifth in the combined all around competition and Katlyn took fourth in J.V. bars."
