We have some good news about Collins & Hying closing its doors in
Dodgeville on February 3. There has been a party step forth looking to purchase
the business. The verdict should be known in a few days. We are very
hopeful that business stays in operation!

FACEBOOK is good for some things. I see where former Dodgeville grad
Dave Johnson (son of Luther) spent some time with former Green Bay Packers
great Jerry Kramer. He told stories of Vince Lombardi, Ray Nitschke,
Bart Starr and others. Those were the days!

Speaking of the Packers - how about that game Sunday against the Cowboys.
The Pack went in an 8+ point underdog. They were ahead pretty much
the entire game until (except when it was 3-0) until Dallas tied it near the
end of regulation. Thanks to a great throw by Aaron Rodgers and an equally
great catch by Jerad Cook the Packers were in field goal range (56 yards- I
couldn't kick it 5 yards!). Mason Crosby was true right down the middle with
his field goal, but wait - Dallas had called a timeout before the kick. His second
try snuck inside the left goal post and....PACK WINS!

I watched my first complete Packers game of the season Sunday thanks to
an invite by Bob and Mary Kratochwill to their house (with others) for food,
drink and the game! It was a great time and especially the win. Now the Pack
is off to another team that will be favored to win - the Atlanta Falcons. Cousin
Jeanette (Atlanta) will be pulling for HER Falcons, but I hope the Pack can
pull off yet another upset and go to the Super Bowl. Hopefully they will be
more healthy for Sunday's game. They have been struggling with key injuries
all season.

If you haven't had a chance to stop in at Judy Page's incubator store (Wise
Owl Workshop) that is located at the Dodgeville Chamber of Commerce
building, take a few minutes to do so. Judy is the wife of Bob's BBQ's Bob
Page!

Saturday we went to Muscoda for our breakfast (3 of the 4 Amigos) to
Vicki's Cozy Cafe. I had Old Blue Balls while Bob and Terry had The Ditzy
Broad! You'll have to go there to see what we actually ate!

It's still football season. Basketball is in the thick of its season and baseball
is right around the corner. Weather is supposed to be pretty warm here this
week, so maybe spring training for baseball should be here!

If anyone out there is looking for some history of Dodgeville and pretty
good reading, check out the story of the early 1960's book shown above. We
have it here at the Chronicle.
