Seventh straight for Cardinals as Potosi falls

It came down to who was going to do a better job taking care of the basketball and who was going to be successful at the free throw line when Highland traveled to Potosi to face the Chieftains Friday.
If there was a question, the answer would be the Cardinals.
It took awhile, though, before the Cardinals were able to earn their seventh straight win. The Chieftains took advantage of some early problems as the Cardinals struggled to get going to surge to a 22-19 halftime lead.
"We knew we had to regroup," said Highland coach Paul Wedig. "We were pretty flat at the start."
The effort to regroup paid off for a 35-26 second half advantage and a classic basketball ending.
"We took better care of the ball and got to the line at the end of the game," Wedig added.
The Cardinals made nine of 10 tries as the clock ticked down to ice it. Spencer Linscheid hit on three of four tries with JR Linscheid, Alex Minter and Mitchell Welsh each netting two of two attempts.
The Cardinals continued their balanced scoring attack as three players scored 12 points. Spencer and JR Linscheid along with Alex Michek all had a dozen.
Four players scored for Potosi. Brady Curtis led with 17 points with Nic Spriggs adding 12, Alex Udelhoven 11 and Will Bierman eight.
