Dodger girls slip past Prairie
Jones hit 10 of her team's 19 points in the first half as they clung to a 19-18 lead at intermission.
She had a big three pointer and popped in 18 during their 31-25 second half effort.
No other Dodger reached double digits, but Ellie Argall had seven of her nine in the second frame.
The contest appeared to be a shootout by Jones and Prairie's Gabby Ritchie, who finished the night with 20 points - 10 in each half.
"We knew coming in that it was going to be a tough one for us," said Dodgeville coach Josh Busch. "PDC is never an easy place to play, but with doubleheader distractions, and being off for 3 1/2 weeks over break I knew that would make it even more tough."
He added, "We talked about not panicking regardless of what happened and staying in the moment. I thought the girls responded very well. We did not light the world on fire with our start, but we were able to grind through and make enough plays to stay in it."
"We got lost a few times on defense when our communication was not very good, but we corrected that in the second half and really played pretty well. We were able to use our full court pressure to force them into some turnovers the last 7:00 minutes or so and that was the difference.
"I am happy with the progress we are making. We are playing unselfish on the offensive end, and really starting to see the girls make good reads and attacking. We just need to become more consistent with our finishing around the rim and we will take the next step. Defensively we have work to do, but we play hard and understand the concepts so it will just take some time".
