Along the Ad Routes

I ran into several people to talk with Sunday at the Avoca Fisheree. One
was my cousin Andrew (Reilly), from Lancaster way. He and several friends,
with brother Michael and father Jack, were fishing. Then they were in the
community building for the real fun!

I see where former Dodgeville athlete Kara Crowley got her 1000th point
as a high school basketball player last week. This season, her senior one, has
been played at Beaver Dam, but the lion's share of her points were scored
while she was a Dodger. Her team is ranked #1 in Division 2 - as they have
been all year. They have a great chance to be a state champion!

I went out on the river at Avoca Sunday, but didn't find any fishermen that
I could get to easily. They all were downstream where it would've been an
awful muddy walk to get to them. I opted to go to the community building
instead. There was water running in parts of the river and not much snow
around to walk on.

The WIAA high school girls basketball tournament begins on February 21
- that's next week. Then the boys will be starting a week later. Oh, and
wrestling sectionals are this Saturday. Gymnastics sectional tournaments are
February 25 with state the following weekend. The winter sports season is
winding down.

At the fisheree Sunday, the above group of Royal Bank employees were
manning the kitchen downstairs in the Avoca Community Building. Pictured
are front row (L-R): Becka Schleif (Elroy), Tammy Alt (Spring Green),
Megan Campbell (Cobb), Josh Esser (Cobb), Andrew Wolfe (Cobb) and Allison
Batton (Cobb); back row (L-R): Rich Wilson (Avoca) and Janet Perkins
(Avoca).

I missed sending out my Valentines. I guess I will have to wait until next
year!

A new business in Dodgeville will be opening soon at the corner of Iowa
and W. Division Streets. Crystal Slaney is an event planner. She decorated
for the annual Dodgeville Chamber of Commerce banquet held at the Red
Room last week. It looked really good!

This Saturday is the Dodgeville Home Talent annual bowling tournament
