Whew - Lady Cards win conference game

Highland's girls basketball team won their first Six Rivers West conference game in 1 1/2 seasonss and avenged an earlier 58-29 loss to Cassville on the same night.
The Lady Cardinals slipped by the Lady Comets 43-37 on a great defensive night.
Cardinal Kylie Esser held Comet Kennedy McMillan to four points when she scored 28 against them earlier in the year. Also, Amber Iffert, who hit 19 the first go around, was also held to four.
"I think we grew up as a team tonight," said Highland coach Josh Tarrell. "We didn't lose our composure out there. Maddie (Drury) took care of the ball. Kylie did an excellent job defending McMillen. I'm proud of the way the girls played tonight. It was our best team win of the year."
The Cards trailed 15-14 at the half, but Esser hit 9 of her 11 points in the second half and Jessica Kosharek 13 of her game-high 16. She hit four shots from long range.
"We did have trouble with transition finish tonight," Tarrell said. "We had a lot of transition looks, but didn't score."
Cassville's Madelyn Nix led them in scoring with 14 - 10 coming in the second half.
