Dodgers take care of business

Nine players broke into the scoring column and the Dodgeville boys basketball team topped visiting Sauk Prairie 65-48 in non-conferrence play Thursday night.
"We have had different people step up offensively on different nights and tonight was no different," said Dodger coach Matt McGraw. It was good to see others besides 'the big three' stepping into different roles and making us more competitive. Also, 'the big three' are doing what they are supposed to on a consistent basis."
The big three he is referring to are seniors Isaac Nagel and Houston Stanek plus junior Bryce Prochaska, who have been leading the offense all season.
Thursday night was no different in that aspect as Nagel and Prochaska both popped in 15 points with Stanek adding 12. But, from off the bench, Nate James hit 8 and Riley Glonek 5 with starter Josh Shepler adding 6.
"Nate gave us a spark the second half (six points). He had two big drives to the basket," McGraw said. "Josh played really well tonight. His consistency on both ends of the court has made us a better team."
"The difference tonight was our defensive intensity," the coach added."It was higher than their (Sauk's) offensive intensity. Also, our rebounding in the final 10 minutes was good. Sauk had very few second chance opportunities. And we valued the basketball. We only had one short stretch in the second half where we struggled a little."
Sauk Prairie was led offensively by three in double figures. Juniors Spenser Kostroski and Dawson Evert both had 12 points with senior Trevor Wilkinson adding 11.
