Recently there was a Dodgeville Chamber of Commerce "Ribbon Cutting"
at Mattress By Appointment, located in the former storage area of J&C Floor
Shop, now owned by Anytime Fitness - off of North Union Street. Owner
Bob Reamon does just what the name is. You call him and meet him at his
store to check out the mattresses he has on hand or order one. Shown are
Chamber Board of Directors at the ribbon cutting. From left to right are: Lynn
Price, executive director; Charles Collier, treasurer; Bob Reamon, store
owner; Nancy K. Smith, board president; Eric Yingst, board vice-president;
Jeff "Potsie" Weber, director.

It's always tough to lose anyone when they pass away. Last week Pat and
I lost our last aunt when Darlene Reilly, 90, of Dodgeville passed. We were
honored to be pall bearers at her funeral. She was married to our uncle, Bob
Reilly, who passed away in 2002. Her children are: Greg, Jean (Halverson),
Deb (Wilkinson) and Jeff. She was a fantastic flower grower. The outside of
her home was envied by many!

Area wrestlers had a tune-up for the tournaments that really count when
the conference meets were held Saturday. At the SWAL/SWC CLASH there
were champions from Dodgeville, Iowa-Grant/Highland, Mineral Point and
River Valley - all from our coverage area. Congratulations to them and good
luck to all wrestlers as they make their bid for the state meet. Regionals are
scheduled for this Saturday.

The other day I was heading north on Union Street, going down by Spring
Street, when I had to nearly get over on the sidewalk. There was a vehicle
heading south that occupied the middle of the road. Now there wasn't any
vehicle parked on the street and there was no snow to force that driver into
the middle of the road!

The UW Badgers men's basketball team had a hard fought win Sunday
against visiting Indiana. Indiana is a team that can be trouble for pretty much
anybody. The Badgers led big early and then kept their poise as Indiana made
a run. They made their free throws at the end when they really needed them!

Bob's BBQ has been closed for a while for vacation(s). They open back up
Thursday (today) the same day as the Dodgeville Chamber of Commerce
banquet that will be held at the Red Room. It will be great to have Ron
Dentinger back to town for the banquet. He will give us a little entertainment
(probably very little!). He, of course, is a professional master of
ceremonies/comedian and just a downright "good guy!"
