What a Badgers men's basketball game Saturday. The UW couldn't shoot
from the outside worth a nickel. It was a good thing that Rutgers didn't have
an answer for Ethan Happ however. His 32 points were more than half the
Badgers winning total of 61. People always ask "how come they keep shooting
from three point distance when they aren't going in?" Well that question
got answered when Bronson Koenig made a key three pointer - he made 2 of
10 - when the chips were down! The Badgers shot 12% (3/25) from three
point distance - but they won in overtime!

Sunday was the 40th Annual Highland Lions Club Fisheree held at Blackhawk
Lake, located between Highland and Cobb. I understand that "Outdoors
Wisconsin" was there interviewing some of the people. I couldn't get down
to their spot in time to take a closeup photo, but above is one taken from on
top of a hill just as they were starting to tear down. I hope they send out a
news release as to when this is going to be aired so we can let people know.
That is a pretty good TV show!

Also, on Sunday, was the annual "Ringing in the New Year" concert at the
Dodgeville Methodist Church that features the Bell Choir plus a lot of individual
and group talent. Besides the bells there was an accordion player and
several singers plus two young women playing the piano together. Then, a
lasagna meal was served following the production. The Bell Choir is under
the direction of Dan Roble while the Senior Choir is under the direction of
Charlene Mingst.

A retirement party was held last week for Lucille May (Mineral Point), who
retired from Potterton Rule after quite a few years. I won't reveal her age.
Let's just say that she is older than me!

Valentine's Day (Tuesday, February 14) isn't too far down the road. I guess
I'll have to start thinking who I should give Valentines to. Actually I think
the last time I sent Valentine's cards out was probably in grade school and
then I didn't send them, I handed them out! I guess I have sent some flowers
over the years, but.....
