Along The Ad Routes

I ran into a fellow at Anita's in Arena Saturday morning as that's where we had breakfast. He went to school at St. Josephs in Dodgeville through the sixth grade, so he was a classmate of Corky Evans, Bob Rock and Pat Flynn off the 1964 state championship basketball team. He asked about them and I filled him in a little.

Snow wasn't really predicted for last Sunday (Christmas Eve Day), but it came anyway. It pretty much snowed most of the day and we probably got about an inch of accumulation. Some of the motor vehicle drivers had to learn to drive in winter conditions all over again - just as some have to do every year. There were several slide offs around here from roadways, but no real injuries that I heard of anyway.

Many of the high school winter athletes don't get much of Christmas break as there was a wrestling tournament last Saturday. Several girls and boys basketball tournaments are being held his week as well as several wrestling tournaments.

I've been thinking about making some New Year resolutions, but then I never keep the ones I made in the past, so why bother!

Brother Pat and I celebrated Christmas Day in Big Bend - that's near Milwaukee - at his son Darren's home, along with wife Michele and sons Gavin and Liam, plus a couple of Michelle's relatives. It's always good to be around family during the holidays! I didn't get us too lost with my following of the GPS directions either!

We are now under a bit of a cold snap this week with temperatures going to climb into double digits at times, but single digits predicted most of the time with below zero hitting during the evening hours.

I was crossing the main street in Dodgeville at the Courthouse/Cobblestone intersection (inside the crosswalk too) and a car stopped for me coming from the north so I started to walk out. A delivery truck (I won't mention the initials) went cruising through coming from the south and I had to stop to let it go by. I was going to yell out "Merry Christmas," but I didn't!

A very Happy New Year to everyone!
