Pointers hit on all cylinders

When everything clicks result can be devastating to the other team.
Such was the case Thursday night at Mineral Point as Pointer boys made a statement to one of the other top teams in the SWAL in Fennimore.
The Golden Eagles came into the contest averaging about 75 points per game and allowing about 38. They hit their offensive output, but defensively was another story.
The final score read Mineral Point 96 Fennimore 75.
"It was by far our best effort of the year and against a very good opponent," said Mineral Point coach Dan Burreson. "We came out with some defensive intensity from the start and played with intensity on both ends of the floor. We have outstanding length when we use it to our advantage."
The Pointers put up 52 points by halftime with freshman Brayden Dailey nailing four three pointers and having 22 of them by the intermission. He finished with a game-high 27.
Isaac Lindsey added 21 and had 11 by halftime. Wes Berget hit 10 of his 17 ion he second half and Chance Wendhausen had 9 of his 14 in the first half.
That prompted Burreson to say, "Offensively this was as well as we have moved the ball all year. Four guys in double figures - that is the kind of balance that will help us win games. We really moved the ball and bodies tonight with a purpose that had been lacking at times earlier in the year. We really shared the ball tonight. "
Also in rebounding department, Berget led with 8, Brayden Dailey-7, Lindsey-6, Chance Wendhausen-6, Eric Heisner-4 and Garrett Wendhausen-3.
"Those numbers tell me we were engaged," Burreson pointed out.
He also said, "Our defense made a lot of things happen."
Berget led with 5 steals and Liam Stumpf added 4.
"Wes did a nice job moving when the ball was in the air. Liam gave us a nice spark off of the bench," the coach went on saying.
Isaac Lindsey had 10 assists and Chance Wendhausen had 6.
"Both guys really did a good job finding the open man. They make so much happen and all they want to do is win," Burreson said.
The coach also mentioned the play, off the bench, by Eric Heisner, and Garrett Wendhausen.
He concluded by saying, "I thought we had a good week of practice leading up to this game. Our scout team really did a nice job getting us ready. Carver Wallace and Dawson Wiegman really helped us prepare for their shooters. We alsohad good efforts from Kevin Eisenzimmer and Caden Jackson as well.
Fennimore had five players reach double digits, led by Reid Larson with 16 points. Kellen Kenney added 14 w both Adam Larson and Liam Kenney hitting 12 and Dakota Govier 11.
