In a Six Rivers Conference Eastern Division mismatch, Barneveld raced past Pecatonica as coach Doug Pickarts' Eagles dominated in all phases of the sport of basketball, racing to a 47-7 halftime lead and mercifully, backing down on their offensive attack and with their full court pressing defensive intensity - for the second half.
The final was 60-11.
Nevertheless, Barneveld's defense held the Pecatonica squad to one 2-point field goal and to one 3-point field goal over the course of the entire varsity level game.
The Vikings also struggled at the free throw line, missing on 11 of their 17 attempts.
Courtney Skaife led Pickarts' ballclub with 15 points and her Barneveld teammate, Grace Schutz added 13.
"Our pressure got us a lot of easy layups," said Barnevelds coach Pickarts. "They struggled with their defense and with their scoring against our defense."
"We are a patient team and take the opportunities when they come," he pointed out.
The Vikings (1-6 entering action this week) are at Juda tomorrow (Friday) night, Dec. 22 in the ballclub's final contest prior to Christmas.
Pecatonica hosts the Parkview Vikings Thursday, Jan. 4.
