the 50s each day and some sunshine - plus not very much wind!

That led to a pretty great time Saturday with the events going on, pretty
much surrounding the Dodgeville Chronicle office. The day began with a
"Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus" at the Congregational Church (a block
away - see above photo).
Then came carriage rides throughout a portion of Dodgeville's residential
area that started out in the Courthouse parking lot. At that same time, there
was a live Nativity scene at the Congregational Church. From 2-4 in the afternoon,
the Chamber sponsored crafts at Cobblestone Coffee House with
several youngsters working on Christmas projects.
Then came the Veterans' Memorial Tree Lighting ceremony, followed by
the lighting of the "Pocket Park" that is just south of the Courthouse. Away
from all that was a full house at the "Santa Secret Shop" from 8:30 a.m. to
1:00 p.m. - that same setup will be there this coming Saturday too at that
same time.

Also, this Saturday, there will be "Random Acts of Kindness" going on
throughout Dodgeville, sponsored by the Dodgeville Area Chamber of Commerce.
I will be taking photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus at Cobblestone Coffee
House from 1-2:30 p.m. Sorry, there is a Packers game going on during
that time, but there's always halftime to stop by!

There were a lot of events going on in Mineral Point last weekend, as well
as in Highland - both were well attended with a lot of fun for all ages!

This weekend, check out events in Ridgeway, Montfort, Livingston, Cobb
and other places close by. It's a fun time of the year for all ages!

I had someone stop for me as I was crossing the main street in Dodgeville
the other day. They yelled out to me: "See, I stopped - I'm not from IOWA!"

The winter sports season is in full swing with gymnastics starting this coming
weekend. Boys and girls basketball and wrestling have already been in
our sports pages. Good luck to all the team this season!

There was a great "toys" fundraiser Saturday at the Red Room that was
sponsored by the Loners Motorcycle Club. There was a lot of people there
and I saw lots of toys too!
