Along the Ad Routes
By Mike Reilly-mreilly@thedodgevillechronicle.com
goes on to Chapel Street and leads to the BMO Harris Bank/courthouse corner.
The other day I was heading to that stop sign and all of a sudden a pickup
truck turned the corner - and I mean turned the corner. It was heading right
toward me in my lane of traffic. There is no parking on the BMO side of the
street, so the driver couldn't have been dodging a parked vehicle. It's a good
thing I wasn't in a hurry to get anywhere so I was driving pretty slow and
avoided a collision with it - but it was a little of a shock!
*****
That same day I was walking through that same parking lot and right in
front of the courthouse back entrance, something caught my eye. A truck's
motor was running and a pretty big dog was sitting right where the driver
would sit and had its hands on the steering wheel right where the driver's
hands should be. That, too, was a little unusual!

Our cousin Jeanette and husband Jack (Darlington) Marty were visiting the
past week or so. Brother Pat and I got to be with them at Bob's BBQ on
Thursday night and I was able to meet up with them at Wisconsin Riverside
Resort in Spring Green on Friday and at Jack's brother Ron's (Kathy) house
in Platteville on Saturday. Pat and I also met them at cousin Jean (Reilly)
and Joe Halverson's in Richland Center. I know that I have been eating way
too much food lately!
*****
Part of the trip back to Wisconsin by Jeanette and Jack was to celebrate
Jack's mother Ester's 90th birthday. Recently too was Jack's birthday and
his sister-in-law Kathy's too. Jack's brother Roger and sister Jeanne were at
the Platteville party too.

When the chips were down, the Dodgeville Knights Home Talent Baseball
Team took a doubleheader from Oregon Sunday to make the playoffs. That
means they will be on the road next Sunday to begin a try for "the Final 4."
*****
I left the first game of the Knights' playing Oregon to take some photos of
the Linden Frolic Parade. It was the top of the ninth with the Knights leading
1-0 when I left - that was the final score of that game!

At the end of the Linden Frolic Parade, Larry Schultz pulled up in his golf
cart and handed me a "Cubs" Tootsie Roll Pop. We go back and forth about
the Cubs and Brewers some and (for now) the Cubs are in 1st place! See
Larry giving me my treat above.
