Along the Ad Routes
By Mike Reilly-mreilly@thedodgevillechronicle.com
Thursday and was following three vehicles - all that turned off to the first
Mineral Point exit with none of the drivers using their directionals! Then, as
I turned into the first Platteville exit, a young man driver dressed in a sport
coat and tie turned off right behind me and didn't use a directional. He then
turned to head into Platteville behind me and didn't use his directional. He
immediately went to the outside lane (you are supposed to turn into the closest
lane and then merge into the other lane). He then changed lanes three
more times trying to get to his destination faster because he was either behind
me or another vehicle in the other lane - again no directional. I'm guessing
Thursday was "National Don't Use Your Directional Day!" Now I can get to
my "Crossing the Street" story. I was crossing at the Corner Drug Store corner
and immediately the vehicle to my left stopped for me. However, the vehicle
to my right kept coming through the intersection. You guessed it - it
had an IOWA license plate! One more - I was going through a parking lot
and heading to the "out." A vehicle backed out of a parking spot as I was
coming around. It just kept backing up. How the driver missed me is a mystery.
I tried to back up but had to look to see if anyone was behind me first.
I would guess there was a matter of centimeters between our bumpers!

The Dodgeville Lions Club held its annual "Fun Night" Saturday night at
the Dodger Bowl. There was a good crowd with a lot of prizes walking out
the door. People who were first-timers said it was a good time and great seeing
some people they hadn't seen in quite some time or had met for the first
time! See the photo above for some of the crowd!!

Remember the Dodgeville Lions Club has started the "Auditorium Fund"
for Dodgeville High School. They will give $6000/year for five years if that
sum is matched in other donations. Everything has to start somewhere!

Son Michael and wife Jolisa came last Wednesday to have lunch at Bob's
BBQ with me. I really didn't get to talk with them much. Jolisa (a cop in
Muscatine) showed us the car cam video of an F2 tornado that went through
the city. She also told about a shooting and two stabbings she was one of the
investigators on. Michael said her life is more exciting than his is at HYVEE
Grocery!

After eating, they went on to Madison. He has a cousin and some former
workers he sees that work at HYVEE stores there. He also has to take some
"Spotted Cow" beer back to friends. He says he usually fills up his trunk
pretty easily!
