rain, hail, wind and sunshine (some). Saturday the Dodgeville High School
baseball teams (varsity & JV) played a doubleheader with Portage - a very
highly rated team. The weather was about as good as you could have on the
1st of April with temperatures getting close to 60 degrees and no real wind
factor! With all the rain we had just prior to Saturday, the ground crews did
a remarkable job to get the high school and Centennial Park fields ready for
play. This was my first of many days in the concession stand at Centennial
Park. Other than the fact that I ran out of hot food in between games, it went
pretty smoothly. One family stopped at the stand several times, but had to
save room for supper as they said they were going to Bob's Bitchin' BBQ. I
told them they may've already eaten too much to not have any food left over!

I was pretty tired following a day at the concession stand at the ball park,
but I made it to the Iowa County Cattlemen's Banquet that is held annually
at the Dodger Bowl. They put on quite the steak feed, but I had already
chomped down several leftover brats from the stand (I was pretty hungry) so
food didn't really appeal to me at that time. They always give a "Lifetime
Achievement Award" to a cattleman and give out a good group of scholarships
(10 this year) plus a lot of door prizes go to attendees. They also have
a "Pie Auction" with proceeds going to several area charities and to their own
scholarship fund. It's a good time! Check out some of the evening's cooks at
the event in the photo above.

This weekend is the Mineral Point City-Wide Garage Sales. This event usually
kicks off the garage sale season, but with some of the very nice weather,
there have been a few sales already in the area. I was thinking about going to
some of the garage sales, but I really don't need a garage!

With Easter being so late this year (April 16) there will be Easter parties in
Montfort this Saturday and in Livingston on Sunday. You will have a chance
to meet the Easter Bunny early!

I want to welcome Max and Tracey Hofkes to the Dodgeville downtown
retail market. They recently purchased "Box Office Video" and are in the
process of making some changes. One thing they will be doing is enlarging
their gaming video department. They will have some video games on hand
for customers to play. Plus they will have more gaming videos on hand. Stop
in and see what's new at the store!
