Panthers lose two SWAL match-ups
It happened last Tuesday in a match that started in Iowa-Grant's favor but ended in Cuba City's corner. The scores were 26-24, 25-19, 22-25, 17-25, 13-15.
"This is a match that definitely got away," coach Marla Simon said. "We had them but quit being aggressive and Cuba City kept swinging. The kids played hard but just slipped through our fingers."
Simon said Emma Liddicoat started off pretty hot with seven kills in the first set.
" Jess Pluemer did a good job blocking along with her serves again," Simon added "Taylor Liddicoat kept our offense going as much as possible but hitters were not executing later in the match."
Simon added that the libero position is being handled nicely by Maranda McCarthy.
"She did a nice job as libero and led with 16 digs," Simon added.
"We are hoping for a winning outcome the next time we see the Cubans," Simon sad..

The Panthers also lost a match to Mineral Point Thursday.
Scores were 14-25, 25-16, 16-25, 19-25.
"It was one of those nights where we just were not really into this match," Simon said, "We got behind by a lot and were not moving our feet or communicating. "
And for that, the Pointers made them pay.
"You can't play that way against a good team like Mineral Point and have a chance. I am hoping this is a match we get out of our system and rebound well. Our offense seems to only be Emma, and we need to move the ball around to stay away from the block of the Pointers."
Simon credited Taylor Liddicoat with another good night with assists and serving.
"She also stepped it up in some defensive play," Simon added.
