year get together of the Dodgeville Class of 1959 at the Red Room around
noon. These people said they can't take the late hours of an evening reunion!
There were several people in attendance who remembered me. I was 12 years
old when they graduated, but I also remembered several!

The evening reunion was a 55 year one of the Iowa-Grant Class of 1961 at
Dodge Point. Again, there were a lot of them remembering me, as I did of
them. A faithful subscriber, Dave Johnston, was one I talked with for quite
awhile. I asked him if he was still catching? He said he could still catch, but
the getting up was a lot tougher! Dave was a catcher for the Dodge-Point
Home Talent team back in the day. I think he also caught one year for the
Mineral Point Home Talent team when they broke off from Dodgeville. In
all honesty, he still looks in shape to be a catcher!

Here's a little driving story that I'm not sure where it was actually going as
to fault - luckily nothing happened to have any fault. I was heading to Pizza
Hut the other day and was going past the Farmers Savings Bank entrance
when a fairly large pickup truck turned in front of me to go into the post
office entrance. The driver used his directional and I didn't think anything of
the truck turning in front of me and I kept on going towards the stoplight.
That's when a squad car turned in front of me with lights flashing following
the truck into the lot. I was slowing down for the truck that turned and because
of the size of the truck I didn't see the squad car until I was almost at
the post office driveway. I stopped and let it turn in, but it seemed I was close
to hitting it. Actually it wasn't that close, but it scared me some! I know emergency
and squad vehicles have the right of way, but when you can't see them?
It was almost like being in the wrong place at the wrong time!

Sunday was the annual OKTOBERFEST at St. Anthony & Philip Church
in Highland. October is a week away, but I guess you can have a celebration
anytime! The next weekend is Highland's school Homecoming, so that's
probably the reason for the early October. There was a good turnout for the
event as can be seen in the above photo. Dan Roble's German Band played
traditional music. There was great German food and refreshments, fun for
the kids, an auction and a few pretty good sized pumpkins on display. The
usual 1000 lb. plus pumpkins didn't show this year however. There were a
lot of people dressed in German outfits too.

The Green Bay Packers played a tremendous first half Sunday against the
Detroit Lions. Then, they went into their usual "funk' in the second half, but
pulled out a victory. In all, it was a pretty good game and win! It was good
to see Aaron Rodgers back on track throwing the football. A couple of
dropped passes kept him from having a great day - but a 129+ quarterback
rating is more like it for him!

It won't be long and Dodgeville will have its Chinese Restaurant back up
and running. The sign says opening soon! It will be under new management.
