Panthers use team play to edge Fennimore

When things aren't going according to the game plan something has to give.
So the Iowa-Grant's girls volleyball team gave what they had....themselves.
"I don't feel this was a well-played game by us, but we did stick together and battle through once again dropping the first set," said Panther coach Marla Simon.
After losing 26-28 to Fennimore in the first set the Panthers regrouped to take the next three sets and the match. They won 25-15, 25-10 an 25-18.
The Panthers had the lead at 22-19 in the first set, then things turned quickly.
"We had some crucial missed serves and errors to eventually drop the set," Simon said.
But not the final three matches.
"The last three sets we were able to cut down on missed serves," the coach said.
Jessica Pluemer had a key serving run to get the Panthers through the third set.
"We were down 11-13 and when she was done we had gone ahead 17-14," Simon said.
"Maranda McCarthy also did a nice job in the libero position and make some nice defensive plays for us," Simon added. "Shae McIntyre also came through with six of her eight hits in sets three and four. "
"We just need to be more consistent from the start of the match and not deal with coming from behind," Simon said.
