Dodgeville. This week I'm asking how everybody likes the IMAGINARY
cornstalks? That's right, they are up, but you can't see them!
*****
Actually I wrote that column before they were supposed to be put up and
then it didn't happen - due to not having enough people to do them and the
fact we didn't have a chain saw to cut them down with. There are a few hay
bales with scarecrows and mums outside businesses which I really like and
feel they are probably less messy and work to put out than the cornstalks.
Also, a few businesses have put up their own cornstalks outside their doors,
so it does look pretty festive! I would like to see as many businesses as will
do the hay bales, mum plants and scarecrows!

Dodgeville's Homecoming football game didn't go the way they would've
hoped against Lancaster Friday night, but the halftime show and Hall of Fame
induction ceremony both went really well. The parade (see above photo) on
Thursday was a good one and really well attended and so was the dance on
Saturday night. Good job Dodgers!

I should've taken my camera with me on the way to Spring Green where
we went for breakfast Saturday morning. The fog that was in the valleys and
on the hilltops was spectacular! It was pretty cold in the early morning hours,
but turned out to be a nice early fall day from about noon on.

With it being Homecoming weekend, there was a record over 55 people at
the First Friday of Every Month DHS (graduates, teachers and friends) luncheon
at the Red Room. If you haven't been there for one of those gatherings,
it's worth stopping by as you'll meet up with a lot of people you may not
have seen in quite some time!

Sunday, I finished cleaning out the food stand at Centennial Park and
propped all the "fridge" doors open plus washed a lot of things and areas. I
moved what was left over to storage spots and will probably donate some
things to respective spots. I unloaded stuff at my house to be put in my freezer
and then headed back down to the office. I almost hit my neighbor's truck
that was parked along the street as a bee must've gotten in my car and it
landed on my lip after I pulled out of my driveway as I was heading north up
the street. I quickly rolled down my window and swatted it outside. Believe
it or not, it didn't sting me. I guess there isn't enough "sweetness" to me for
even a bee to take some out of me!

Boy the weather over the weekend was just what fall is all about. The sun
shined and it felt pretty darn warm both Saturday and Sunday in the afternoon.
Now, the middle of this week it's supposed to cool down with highs in
the low to mid 50s and there should be some rain. By Saturday, however it
is supposed to be back in the 70s again - typical Wisconsin!
