Vikings lose to Barneveld

Pecatonica's volleyball team had a contrasting week, results-wise, last week, being swept on their home court in three straight games by the visiting Barneveld Golden Eagles Tuesday night, Oct. 4 (10-25, 16-25, 22-25) and then bounced back, winning three of four games played Thursday evening at Albany High School.
Co-coach Jennah Schliem said there was nothing to say regarding the Vikings' lopsided defeat at the hands of the Barneveld squad.
The Eagles sweep was a repeat of a match back on September 8 when Barneveld also blanked Pec 3-0. The results were arguably more palatable for Viking coaches and players Thursday night in eastern Green County where Pecatonica topped the Albany Comets three games to one - and by scores of 25-19, 25-19, 16-25, 25-10.
Pecatonica's Liz Tisch delivered 14 digs for the Vikings and she also shad a team-best seven aces for the victors, a team co-coached by Schliem and by Brad Tisch.
Pec players Grace Keast and Taetum Pagel helped propel the Vikings Thursday night, with eight kills apiece. Their teammate, Ninah McKeon, also added a team-high six blocks in Pecatonica's victory.
Pecatonica has a 3-8 conference record entering action this week, possesses a 4-9 overall record and the Vikes found out Sunday they'll be a #6 seed Tuesday in the WIAA D-4 volleyball play-offs. The seeding means Pec players will compete in opening night WIAA D-4 Regional Tournament action in South Wayne Tuesday (Oct. 18th) at 7 p.m. versus their hosts - the Black Hawk Warriors.
