Home court finally becomes friendly to Cards

It took until deep into the season, but the Highland volleyball team finally won a home Six Rivers Conference match.
It took the Cardinals four sets, but thet beat Cassville 25-9, lost 25-15, but then won 25-23 and 25-18.
"It felt good to finally get that first win at home," said a relieved Highland coach Maria Wineski. "Hopefully we can build on this."
They breezed through the first game, leading 20-2 at one point, but the second on was a different story.
"Credit Cassville. They have really improved since the first time we played. They blocked and scrapped after that first game," Wineski pointed out.
She also said her team had way too many errors.
"We had 25 attack errors and five missed serves," she said. "That right there is more than one game's score."
On the night, Jessica Kosharek was all over the court. She registered 24 digs, 14 kills and served for aces.
Karen McMannes assisted on 38 points.
Kylie Esser came up with nine kills and added four aces and 13 digs.
Alyx Hach blocked four shots and added 12 kills.
Brooke Michek, from her libero position, had 12 digs.
The Cardinals finished fourth in their tournament at North Crawford Saturday.
They won their pool by beating Wonewoc-Center, North Crawford and Black Hawk.
They were shorthanded two girls in the final round and dropped matches to Belmont and Viroqua.
