Innkeeper in Waunakee (kind of a central location for all teams). It's always
good to hear all the award winners who give acceptance speeches (very short
ones) and some of the comments from the presenters. I can't tell you how
many awards are handed out. They range from MVPs in the league and the
playoffs to each division champion to individual batting and home run champions
to special awards then to the finale with little Albion being the overall
champion. The entire banquet (including the meal) is finished in three hours
- not bad. Brother Pat is the emcee of the event as he is the league commissioner.

One of the big Albion supporters is 1966 DHS graduate Randy Jackson -
in fact they called him #1 Fan! They even made him stand up and be recognized
(see photo). He was at the banquet and couldn't believe how it was
done so fast and all the awards and people recognized. He also said he may
not eat for a few days after that "filling and good" meal!

Last weekend wasn't the best weatherwise for all the homecomings going
on - Mineral Point, Iowa-Grant and Highland. They all came off OK, but I
sure did have wet shoes/feet by halftime of the Mineral Point game! It rained
off and on for Highland's parade on Saturday. That was after I took a few
photos at the Alzheimer's Walk earlier in the morning. The rain did hold off
for the Mineral Point parade Thursday night though!

Bloomfield Healthcare and Rehab Center held its annual Balloonfest Sunday
with it being overcast, but mild, but no sunshine. The parade was a nice
one, but the crowd was down from previous years. Also, it usually is held in
the summer and not early fall.

We are a little late, but cornstalks went up in Dodgeville on Monday. The
days seem to go by way too fast to get everything done on schedule and the
weather hasn't helped out much either!

This week is Dodgeville's Homecoming. There are a bunch of events scheduled
from Thursday through Saturday. I understand there are a lot of alumni
returning to be recognized in the Hall of Fame, especially from the 1962
baseball and 1963 basketball teams. I guess I will have to be there for some
since those were some of the (many) years I attended DHS!

The UW Badgers football team stumbled a little Saturday at Michigan. It
is good to know though that they can play with them at their place in a hostile
environment. Offensively they hiccupped some, but defensively they were
pretty strong.
