Hennessey one-hits River Ridge


Highland unleashed a 13 hit attack and buried River Ridge 15-4 in a Six Rivers West game Monday.
The Cardinals also got a one hit pitching performance from freshman Drew Hennessey who fanned five and walked five while pitching all five innings.
Three walks and an error let in two runs in the second for the Timberwolves. Two walks and an error let in a run in the fourth and two errors accounted for the fourth River Ridge run in the fifth. Only one of the runs were earned.
The lone hit by the Timberwolves came in the third when senior shortstop Ben Ertz singled with two outs.
"He gave us five strong innings," Highland coach Terry Cool said.
Hennessey also took part in the 13 hit attack. He was 2x3 with a double, scored twice and drove in four runs.
The offense started quickly with 3 straight hits in the top of the first including back to back doubles from Evan Rusch and Hennessey that gave Highland a two run lead.
"We were able to add two more in the first and never looked back," Cool said.
Mitchell Welsh had a big game for the Cardinals as he went 3x4 and knocked in three runs.
Alex Michek had a double to key a seven run fifth.
Rusch continued coming up big for the Cardinals as one of their big offensive performers. He went 3x4 and scored three runs.
JR Linscheid, Alex Michek and Adam Wolfe each had one hit.
