DeVoss fans a dozen in win over Hornets

It took three weeks to complete the game but the Dodgeville baseball team had no problem with the wait.
Behind the 12 strikeout pitching over six innings by senior righthander Hunter DeVoss the Dodgers trimmed the young Richland Center Hornets 2-0 Thursday.
The game was orginally started April 19 but rain halted it after a scoreless first inning. Cole Sullivan pitched the first inning giving up a hit and a walk.
But Thursday it was all Hunter DeVoss. He struck out two in the second, fourth and fifth then struck out the side in the sixth and seventh. He did not allow a runner past second base.
DeVoss also had one of Dodgeville's six hits.
What proved to be the winning run crossed in the third. Caleb Chappell beat out an infield hit, stole second and scored on a single by Sullivan.
The insurance run crossed the plate in the top of the seventh. Chappell also scored that one after walking, reaching second on a steal and third on Sullivan's ground ball to first. Jordan Olson then hit a ball that was misplayed, allowing Chappell to score.
Trent Jones and Jordan Larson both had doubles for the Dodgers while Chappell, DeVoss, Sullivan and Jack Hellmann all singled.
Freshman Ryan Peterson took the loss for the Hornets. He gave up all six hits, both runs while fanning four and walking one.
