Bullying should not happen

By J. Patrick Reilly-preilly@thedodgevillechronicle.com

One of the saddest stories one can hear is a report of bullying.
In Delaware, three girls confronted another one in the school restroom and one of the girls punched her several times in the head. The victim was unsteady when she got off the floor and later collapsed and died. The autopsy showed she died because of a heart problem she had that was escalated by the punches she received.
In an instant, one person lost a life and three others have their lives changed forever.
It was an act that was unnecessary and ended up to be brutal.
With high school graduations in this area starting in two weeks it is our hope that students do not leave our learning centers with memories of bullying. But we are also sure that is not the case in all instances.
Bullying has become a problem and as it takes a village to raise a child, it also takes a village to put an end to bullying.
If you see something that looks like bullying, it probably is.
Stand up for the person being bullied.
That way you can make a positive influence on a life.
