Pointers finish Prairie in five


Mineral Point scored 12 runs in the first two innings Friday and coasted to a 14-3 win over visiting Prairie du Chien in non-conference softball play.
The Pointers plated seven runs in the first with Destinee Kruser driving in two with a single, Elise Ames having a sarifice fly and another run scoring on a Miranda Oellerich single.
Morgan James plated two more with a double and Clara Chambers drove in another with a single.
Five more tallies came in during the second frame with James clearing the bases with a double for three. Halayna Thousand also had an rbi groundout.
They finished their scoring in the fifth (and final frame) with two runs. Carlie Qualley singled to drive in Chamers, who had doubled. Kruser and McKenzie Schmitz singled and the game ended as Thousand's grounder was misplayed.
Prairie scored once in the first, and twice in the second.
Lawinger struck out six and walked one while giving up three runs (one earned) on six hits.
