Late Lodi free throw downs Dodgers

The game probably should've gone into overtime, but it didn't. A questionable late-call foul sent Lodi senior Chris Nelson to the free throw line with 2.2 seconds remaining where he made one of two. That one point proved to be the victory margin for Lodi at 60-59.
The Dodgers called timeout right after the rebound of the second throw and coach Matt McGraw and company drew up a play for the final shot. That was aa pass inbounds, another pass to center Bryce Prochaska, his pass to Trent Jones streaking down the sidelines, one dribble and a final second three attempt.
The ball looked like it was going to be a swisher, but it nicked the back of the rim in front and rattled out - proving it isn't a game of inches, it is a game of millimeters.
The Dodgers led for a good share of the first half and were up 10 at one point, but Lodi, on the scoring of 6'6" senior forward Peyton Fulkerson, led 26-25 at the intermission - which proved to be the one point needed for victory.
Fulkerson finished the night with 19 points, connecting on a trio of threes and 15 points in the first half.
Derek Paulson, a 6'5" senior added 18 with 14 coming in period two.
The Dodgers had the game's high scorer in senior Trent Jones with 21.
Junior Isaac Nagel hit four threes with he and sophomore Bryce Prochaska both added 12.
"It was just a hard fought battle that went back and forth," Dodger coach McGraw said. "Late when we took control we had a couple of turnovers that proved costly that came at a time maybe we didn't completely give our all. Sometimes things like that happen in a basketball game."
"But we responded," the coach pointed out. "We had the ball with 1.8 seconds left and the guys executed a great play. The shot looked like it was in all the way, but it didn't fall."
"I am as proud of these guys as I have ever been. We win games together and we lose games together. It doesn't change the way I feel for them because we lost a game. It is especially hard for the seniors as their high school basketball careers come to an end."
"Credit Lodi, though," he said. "They shot as well as I have seen them shoot on tape."
