Eagle boys run away from Potosi
They trailed 20-17 in the first half, but put on a spurt and led 31-24 at halftime. They outscored the Chieftains 57-33 after halftime.
Junior guard Matthew Myers returned to action following a shoulder injury and led the Eagles with a game-high 20 points. He too took a little time to get going as he connected for 15 of them in the second half.
The Eagles finished with four players reaching double figures as freshman Malcom Reed hit 13 and senior Bryce Arneson and junior Lucas Evans added 10 each.
"I thought Matthew was a little tentative in the first half not wanting to reinjure himself," said his father and head coach Jim Myers. "In the second half he played more like himself."
Potosi was led in scoring by senior Tyler Udelhoven with 17 points with 11 manly coming in near desperation shots near the end. Senior Nate Friederick hit 14 and sophomore Alex Udelhoven added 12.
"Potosi is a good ball club," Myers said. "They played all the teams in the other Six Rivers Division tough. I thought a key was that our intensity on the boards was much better in the second half."
He mentioned all the players contributing especially Jonas Ignatius, Drew Archie, Malcom Reed, Kauy Fargo, Lucas Evans and Bryce Arneson.
The win gave them the regional final game Saturday night matchup at Mount Horeb against Southwestern, an upset winner over Pecatonica.
