Cassville held the lead for a matter of a few minutes, but Hannah Whitish and the Barneveld girls basketball team made sure it didn't last long in a D3 regional semifinal win 62-34.
Hannah Whitish popped in 19 of her 30 ponits on the night in the first half as her team coasted to a 33-18 lead at the intermmission.
She hit 11 more before exiting in the second half. Teegan Pickarts scored 10 of her 15 in the second half.
"Cassville came out playing physical basketball like they had nothing to lose. They did a few things we weren't ready for," said Barneveld coach Doug Pickarts. "I'm a firm believer that you win the game and move on in playoffs."
"We let Okey cut through our defense too much when we were pressing," he added. She and the other guard pounded the cutter going through. We didn't want to run our press like we would Saturday night against Riverdale. We didn't want them to see what was in store for them. Still we forced 30 turnovers."
"I didn't feel that we shot the ball particularly well either."
"Credit Cassville, they played hard right up until the end."
The Comets were led in scoring by Kennedy McMillan, who had 12 points from the inside.
Andrea Okey finished with 11.
