Along the Ad Routes

guess I should've joined the crowd and worn shorts. The only problem is I
don't own any. The last time I wore shorts was probably in the 1980s and
that was just for one day at the ballpark when we had temperatures over 100
degrees and I was over 30 years younger!
*****
Speaking of wearing shorts. Friday the temperature was around 30 degrees
and I spotted someone outside hanging up laundry. They were only wearing
shorts and a T-shirt - of course they had on shoes and socks! But that was a
little too cold for me to even think about only wearing that!

Oh, and as I was heading back to the office, there were snowflakes in the
air!

I had a chance to make it to see Dodgeville's Brady Wetter win his Division
2 state wrestling championship at 220 pounds Saturday night at the Kohl
Center in Madison. He sure handled the three opponents he had to wrestle to
get that title. He's a great kid and is going to wrestle for the University of
Wisconsin Badgers next year. After the match when I congratulated him and
shook his hand he gave me a hug. I don't think I'd want to wrestle him!
*****
I also got to see Highland freshman (Iowa-Grant/Highland) Drew Hennessey
wrestle for the championship in Division 3 at 170 pounds. He gave
his opponent all he wanted and only lost 3-1 on a takedown in the last few
seconds. We will be looking for great things from him the next three years!

While I'm talking wrestling, check out the crowd (above) at the Kohl Center
in the section directly across from where I was sitting. There are maybe
two empty seats and those people were probably out getting something to
eat!

Congratulations to the Barneveld (D3) and Mineral Point (D2) girls basketball
teams as they both head to sectional play Friday night (and hopefully
Saturday too). They are just a weekend away from a state tournament appearance
at the Resch Center in Green Bay the following weekend!

Both Dodgeville and River Valley girls teams put up a battle in their regional
games Thursday night, but fell short. Great job by both on the season!

This past Tuesday the boys basketball teams began their hunt for a state
tournament appearance at the Kohl Center in Madison. Good luck to all area
teams on that quest too!
