Run in fifth lets Panthers advance

Iowa-Grant slipped past Mineral Point last week in the SWAL wrap-up for both teams that set the stage for the opening round of the proverbial second season.
The same two teams met again in the WIAA Division 4 Regional quarterfinals and this one was much closer.
But the results were the same as the Panthers outlasted the Pointers 4-3. The win sends the Panthers to Prairie du Chien for a Regional semifinal with Prairie du Chien.
Iowa-Grant scored a run in the bottom of the first before the Pointers exploded for three in the top of the second on a three run home run by Dylan MacGilvra. His shot plated Zach Cummings who had walked and Brandon Dolphin who had singled.
But the Panthers caught up in the bottom of the second then earned the win with a run in the fifth.
The Panthers got rbis from Acea Upmann, Charlie Richards, Eric Raimer and Zach Campbell. Raimer and winning pitcher Caleb Hill both were 2x3.
Sawyer Wallace was 2x3 for the Pointers with a double.
Hill got the win for the Panthers. He spaced seven hits, walked two and struck out five.
Joey Dolphin took the loss for the Pointers. He gave up six hits, walked one and fanned five.
