Dodgers trip Viroqua to advance

For the Dodgeville baseball team it was Jordan to the second power in a 4-2 WIAA Division 2 Regional semifinal win Tuesday at Centennial Park.
Jordan Olson pounded out two doubles in four trips and drove in two runs for the Dodgers. Not to be outdone, Jordan Larson went 2x3 and drove in runs in the first and second innings.
Those tallies were all Cole Sullivan needed as the senior right hander cruised through the Viroqua line-up and helped the Dodgers to a 4-2 win.
The Blackhawks touched Sullivan for a run in the fifth when the Dodgers took an out and let a run score. They mounted a minor rally in the seventh when Sullivan walked the lead-off batter and gave way for Larson to close. A single and an error allowed the run to score.
Sullivan struck out three and walked three while spacing six hits. Only one of the runs was earned.
Larson struck out two and gave up one hit in his inning of relief.
Sullivan was 2x3 for the Dodgers while Jack Hellmann and Jones both had a single.
Dalton Burkhardt was 3x4 for Viroqua. Kollin Burkhardt threw all seven for the Blackhawks, striking out six and walking four.
The Dodgers advanced to play River Valley, a 5-4 winner over Mount Horeb in nine innings.
