We will give you the chance Tuesday, August 16 at Harris Park when we (The Dodgeville Chronicle) sponsors the first, and we hope annual, Dodgeville Story Telling Gala.
The event is free and will last from 7 to 10 pm. Three story tellers who take part in similar events throughout the country will be there to entertain you. If you want to look them up they are Bil Lepp, Kim Weitkamp, and Andy Offutt Irwin.
So mark that date on your calendar and journey to Harris Park for this free event.
On another note, 14 Dodgeville students are back from a two week trip to England and the story of that adventure is on spotlight.
As someone who grew up in an era where a summer trip would no doubt be to some of the area county fairs, or to a Milwaukee Braves game or to another town to visit relatives, it is impressive that young people get to experience the things they do. In doing the interview I am under the impression that the students matured on the trip.
England withdrew from the European Union which played havoc with our stock market, the Prime Minister resigned and their currency took a plunge, all within the week they were there.
Besides visiting Whitbread Academy and taking in the culture of England the students got a real life lesson on economics and how the world works.
A good lesson learned and they experienced it first hand.
